Gold!
Saturday, July 25, 2009, 02:01 AM
A week ago I had the pleasure to go with my gf, mother, stepdad and brothers to Kopparberg where we all learned how to pan for gold. Awesome experience. I have been wanting to pan for gold since I was a kid. Let's just say I've gotten the gold-fever. Bought a pan, borrowed books, read articles, watched movies and documentaries about panning, mining, sluicing, dredging..and the Klondike goldrush at the end of 19th century.

Tomorrow we will go to our friends Johan Hultman and Elina Forss wedding. Will be fun. Just gotta find something nice to wear.

New home.
Monday, July 6, 2009, 12:44 PM
Finally have settled in the new spaceous apartment. Still need to put everything up on the walls..and need a bookshelf, a table, a dishwasher, some curtains..etc etc.
Feels good. The studioroom also needs some work but it's coming along pretty well.

The weather here have been great for a few weeks, but a few days ago there were finally some rain (and thunders). I think the nature and every other living being needed it. I took a picture of it at 2am from the window in the studio room:

The new songs with Dwine sounds great. My brother knows how to write good choonz.
Take care!

Dwine and Evelon
Thursday, June 4, 2009, 11:24 AM
Our show with Dwine this Friday went well. But as always (everytime we have played the Kopingfesten) it's a world championship in stress. I don't know how they do it. Sucky planning I guess. But it was fun...and quick. In, out. We actually got 4 cameras rolling so I edited a video together yesterday. Check it out:

I also have some good news about my ambient music. A netlabel called PublicSpacesLab in Spain liked what they heard and want to "sign" me to their label. Yeeee! First off is a track on their compilation-album (with many more talented people on it). I edited a video together (aswell) for that track. Check it!

Now I gotta go get a job and/or find out how I will pay the bills. Cheers!

Preparing..
Wednesday, May 20, 2009, 05:09 PM
I'm already physically and mentally preparing to move to a bigger apartment (even though there is some time left)..and also the live shows with Dwine. Selling stuff I don't use as much, throwing stuff away, preparing backingtracks (first time we use backingtracks in Dwine, wee). I'm also preparing to do the video of me cutting off my hair in the mirror, to one of our (Dwine) songs.

Also, I need a job!

Oh, times..they are a'changin'.

Just thought I'd post a picture of me and my nephew Elliott, eating icecream in a cup.

moving to a new place..
Saturday, May 9, 2009, 02:09 PM
I'm moving to a new spaceous apartment this summer. I'm leaving my cramped (but cozy) current apartment. Hopefully moving to the "old city" neighbouhood of my town. High ceiling and a nearby stream.

Rehearsing is coming along great with Dwine. We are putting together the backingtracks atm. Got an outdoor gig 3 weeks from now at the Köpingsfesten 29th of may @ 11pm. Stoked.
I've also taken some product-photos for my brother and his new snare.

Now I'm gonna get back to mixing the backingtracks.
See ya...

Spring
Monday, April 20, 2009, 05:49 PM
Finally the "pre-summer"/spring that we had in Italy is coming here...and I'm cleaning out, throwing stuff that need to go, selling what I'm not using. Fresh air and new spaces. Gives me energy to write some new songs and get new ideas for Dwine (and it also pays some bills). I've got two video ideas that I want to execute asap, one is me cutting off my long hair in the mirror.

The balcony also need to be cleaned. Sunshine and beer. Yay!

"Spring is here again.."
Monday, April 6, 2009, 03:03 PM
Long time since I wrote a blog. I had a great time in Italy. Awesome food, weather, wine, pasta, Venice, Padova, crazy traffic, language, bodylanguage, more wine. I haven't eaten so much in an entire week as I did. I'm forever grateful to Andrea's generous family.

Coming back is like falling in to the same routine again. A bit sad. But I guess that's what holidays are about - breaking patterns. I've seriously thought about moving to a new place and change my diet to raw food and living food (like I did for a period in 2005..and I felt great). I'm a bit stuck in the same routines now. Doesn't feel too good. A part of me is desperate for a change. Aparently I'm not alone being in this situation.

My brother sent off his snare and it was displayed in the booth at Frankfurt Musikmesse just recently. It looks and sounds great. If I hadn't been in italy during this time I would have loved to be there demoing it.

Here's a picture I took in Venice:

Italy.
Saturday, March 21, 2009, 04:14 AM
I'll be going to Italy on Monday and will be gone for a week. Hopefully I will greet spring there, drinking wine for breakfast and eating pasta all 3-4 times a day. I will probably take alot of photos and will also bring the HDV camera and the 35mm adapter.

first draft
Tuesday, March 17, 2009, 01:28 AM
Ok. My 35mm adapter is working and delivers. I need to tweak it a bit. Maybe need to polish the focusing screen a bit to get the worst "lo-fi" out.
So here is the first draft of the "documentary thing" I've filmed with my brother, owner and creator of Spunky Drums. More is coming along:

Birthday
Saturday, March 7, 2009, 12:37 AM
It's 30 minutes in to the new day of March 7th, my birthday. I will go to bed soon. Tomorrow I need to clean up and prepare before parents and siblings comes over. Cakes and coffee topped with good conversations.

I recently made a DIY flash bouncer out of a plastic cookie jar and mylar. Here is a testshot. Sabine had no choice than to act as model:

Been making stuff
Wednesday, March 4, 2009, 02:16 AM
Still got some pain in the back after I slipped on some ice (I didn't fall, but instead strained my back due to my fast skateboarding-reflex-movements) over a week ago. Maybe muscle infection, who knows.

Currently I'm learning new tricks here and there, making some progression on my own songs. I also have all the parts for a DIY 35mm adapter for a HV30 HDV camera. That will be cool as hell. Will hopefully post some clips here soonish.

Happy birthday Elliott!
Saturday, February 14, 2009, 10:55 PM
My nephew Elliott (named after Elliott Smith) just turned two years and we had a small b-day party for him. He got cars, lego and some other toys. His favorite was a blue car that he played with for hours afterwards. He's so cute..and smart.

yummy yummy...

Twestival
Thursday, February 12, 2009, 07:23 PM

Imogen Heap, one of my great inspirations (and secret crushes), put up vocaltracks for the song "the song that never was", which is a song that never was a track for a childrensmovie. Exciting. I have the chords worked out and will add layers upon layers of sounds I guess. Also, it's for an awesome cause - The tracks were uploaded to Twestival , a twitter festival spreading the word of Charity:Water, which is an organization helping people in the 3rd world by supplying/building water pumps with filters. We in the west (north?) take clean water for granted..and we don't have to walk 3 hours to get it.
Finally a good reason for me to get a paypal account.
Please check it out:

This is a "be and feel good"-day.

I'm applying for a new exciting job, and thought I'd try some new techniques that I haven't used as much in combination before - panoarma stitching and HDR.

I would get stoked if I got to work with this. We'll see what happens.

A weekend with choral sounds.
Monday, February 9, 2009, 05:43 PM
Monday again, with great sunny weather. This past weekend I recorded a childrens-choir, a middle aged choir and a senior choir. Mixing and mastering remaining. It was really cool. Made me tempted to write some music that has a choir in it. The kids were adorable and sounded so uplifting.

On the night to sunday it snowed so much. Everything was covered in white and at 10am when the choir were warming up we had a power-out. It only lasted an hour but I was afraid it would last all day. Everything went dead, except the choir. They continued to warm up..and eventually the power came back on.
Must have been some tree falling over a wire, due to the heavy snow.

While driving to the studio on Sunday morning. Lots of snow.

Looking out the window after a whole day of working. Finally the sun came through. Perfect timing.

Spunky Snare
Wednesday, February 4, 2009, 08:29 PM
Did more product photos for my brother (spunkydrums.com). This time it was a green acrylic snare. Several flash shots (HDR). Here is an example:

Don't you just want to play it...or maybe just eat it?

Flu again.
Wednesday, February 4, 2009, 12:21 PM
So I've been having the flu again, and at the same time my internet (modem) died. I've had three rather productive days. Being without internet is like a yin yang thing - very frustrating and very liberating at the same time.

Before I got sick we rehearsed with Dwine and it's starting to sound pretty good. Have been working on backingtracks (clicktrack and synths, drummachines, noise, glitch, etc). I think it's going to be cool.

On Saturday and Sunday I will record, mix and master a choir in the Phonobel Studio. Sounds like it's gonna be fun.

I designed a new theme for Jeskola Buzz tracker and decided to call it "Bruce Banner":

For you Buzzers out there, here it is:
